Important Details

Preliminary Appointment

Our first meeting is an opportunity for you to discuss the issues concerning you and for me to explain the way that I work. You may have questions that will help you to decide whether counselling is right for you at this time and help you decide whether I am the counsellor you would like to work with. We can then discuss what we feel is the best way forward.

Fees

£60 per hour session.

(I keep a few appointments available at a subsidised rate for those on low incomes or for student counsellors. Please ask for details).

Hours

Monday to Friday, 9am to 8pm.

Cancellation

I ask that you give 24 hours notice if you are unable to attend your appointment. Please note – the full session fee will be charged if less notice is given.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is essential in a therapy relationship as part of building trust, and so everything discussed in our sessions together is confidential within the constraints of the law and the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy (2010). This states that in certain circumstances there are times when a counsellor may need to make a referral to an agency or organisation, for example where there is a serious risk of harm or in cases of child or elder abuse. I would make every effort to inform you before taking any action if this became necessary.

Supervision

In accordance with my professional code of practice I attend regular professional supervision where aspects of my work are discussed in confidence.

Record and Note Keeping

It is a requirement of my profession that I keep client records and notes of our sessions. These are encrypted and stored securely.

Car Parking and Accessibility

There is ample car parking space available. Please let me know if you have a difficulty managing stairs.
